چکیده

A compact traveling-wave electroabsorption modulator-based ring oscillator is utilized to perform clock recovery and simultaneously reshaping for 40-Gb/s optical packets. The clock locks within 300 ns and has less than 0.6 ps timing jitter.

Simultaneous Demultiplexing, Electrical Clock Recovery, and Optical Clock Generation Using Photocurrent and Subharmonic Frequency in a Traveling-wave Electroabsorption Modulator

We demonstrate for the first time using a traveling-wave electroabsorption modulator simultaneously as a photodetector, a demultiplexer, and an optical pulse generator for clock-recovery and demultiplexing at linerates of 40 Gb/s and 160 Gb/s. Introduction Compact optoelectronics components are desired to bring down the cost and ease the maintenance in high capacity optical communication system...

Gb / s OTDM Networking using Deployed Fiber

We report a 160 Gb/s OTDM network comprising switching and demultiplexing through field deployed fiber. The 160 Gb/s signal was obtained by time-interleaving 16 channels of a 10 Gb/s signal. The add-drop node was realized by using a gain-transparent operation of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). A subharmonic clock recovery with a pre-scaled electro-optical phase locked loop employing an...

Effective optical clock recovery and simultaneous fourfold demultiplexing of OTDM signal using an optoelectonic oscillator.

We propose and demonstrate a novel scheme for clock recovery and simultaneous fourfold optical time-division demultiplexing using a dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator based optoelectronic oscillator. 25-GHz prescaled optical clock with a 23% duty cycle and a 22-dB extinction ratio is successfully extracted from both 100-Gb/s on-off keying (OOK) and differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) optic...

Packet clock recovery using a bismuth oxide fiber-based optical power limiter.

We demonstrate an optical clock recovery circuit that extracts the line rate component on a per packet basis from short data packets at 40Gb/s. The circuit comprises a Fabry-Perot filter followed by a novel power limiting configuration, which in turn consists of a 5m highly nonlinear bismuth oxide fiber in cascade with an optical bandpass filter. Both experimental and simulation-based results a...

SiGe BiCMOS PAM-4 Clock and Data Recovery Circuit for High-Speed Serial Communications

A multilevel clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit for highspeed serial data transmission was designed using the IBM 6HP 0.25 μm SiGe BiCMOS process technology. The circuit extracts the clock from a 32 Gb/s 4-level pulse amplitude modulated (PAM-4) input signal and outputs four channels of retimed NRZ data at 8 Gb/s per channel. The CDR design incorporates a PAM-4 to 2-bit-binary converter, a p...
